Day 1 - Wednesday 1st December, 9.30-1pm

Day 1 will cover:

• Survival budget
• Business planning
• Customers

By the end of the session participants will be able to:
• Identify the key skills, qualities and mind-set that are helpful to becoming a successful start-up
• Describe the purpose of your social enterprise
• Understand key aspects of good business planning
• Describe your ideal customers
• Understand how to effectively promote your business

• Handling objections

• Intellectual property
• Naming your business

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
• Identify what makes a good salesperson.
• Describe ways of creating leads for your enterprise.
• Understand features and benefits and how to use them in your selling approach.
• Understand how to manage and overcome objections.
• Understand key risks and insurance cover.
• Describe factors to take into account when naming your organisation.

Day 3- Friday 3rd December, 9.30-1pm

Day 3 will cover:
• Legal structures
• Start-up costs
• Pricing
• Business banking
• Cash flow
• Record & book keeping
• VAT & National Insurance
• Critical friend
• Chamber of Commerce membership

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
• Consider the most appropriate legal structure for your enterprise.
• Identify your likely start up and ongoing costs.
• Understand different pricing structures.
• Describe tips for helping with your cashflow.
• Understand what records you need to keep.
• Identify if you need to register for VAT.
• How to think critically about your business.
